VENUES

DH2020 will take place at the University of Ottawa and Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. Below is a list of all venues used for the Conference including street address, accessible entrance information, and location of the nearest gender neutral restrooms.

University of Ottawa

Located at 75 Laurier Ave East, the University of Ottawa is on the eastern edge of Ottawa’s downtown core, located between the business district and a historic residential neighborhood. From the airport it costs approximately $45CAD to reach the campus by taxi. Bus 97 from the airport stops at 55 Laurier East (ask for “the Laurier stop”). A taxi from the train station (Via Rail) costs approximately $20CAD. By public transit take Bus 61 (Terry Fox direction) from the train station and get off at Laurier station. The light rail connection to the University of Ottawa will open in December 2019 — more information to follow.

Carleton University

The Carleton campus street address is at 1125 Colonel By Drive, but the campus is most easily accessed by car from Bronson Avenue. (Parking map; parking services is located on the ground floor of Robertson Hall and has 15 minute parking just outside if you need to visit the office briefly).

The 15-minute taxi ride from the Ottawa (Via Rail) train station to Carleton University’s Residence Commons costs approximately $15.00. Taxi fare from the Ottawa (Voyageur) bus terminal to Carleton University is approximately $10.00. The taxi ride from the Ottawa Airport to Carleton University’s Residence Commons costs approximately $15.00.

Local OCTranspo routes #4 and #7 (both of which enter the campus) pass within a block of the Ottawa (Voyageur) bus terminal. The o-train service through campus is scheduled to be undergoing construction in July 2020.

Highway 417 runs east/west through the centre of the City of Ottawa. Exit Highway 417 (also called the “Queensway”) at Bronson Avenue. Follow Bronson Avenue south approximately 2 kilometres. The campus entrance will be on the right at the intersection of Bronson and Sunnyside Avenue.

The campus can be traversed on foot in about 15 to 20 minutes. In inclement weather, the tunnel system can provide direct access to nearly every building, although sometimes by more circuitous routes.
