"Open GLAM" Opening up digital cultural heritage collections for the digital humanities

1. Abstract

Over the past twenty plus years, cultural heritage organizations have put vast amounts of digitized available online.The movement towards Open Access for digitized cultural heritage has come to be known as Open GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums). This presentation will explore key issues and recent efforts around Open GLAM and the broader issues of Open Access to cultural heritage, and in particular will highlight many current activities around Open GLAM, as well as issues and challenges that exist in this area.
