Data Art, Public Engagement, and Luso-Brazilian Literature and Culture Reflections on the Bird-watching Exhibition

1. Abstract

In line with DH2020’s focus on crossing paths, especially disciplinary ones, representations of indigenous (and other marginalized) perspectives in Brazil, and the possibilities of engagement proposed by public digital humanities initiatives, this paper will discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by the Bird-watching exhibition, an interdisciplinary and artisanal middle-ground where museum-goers were invited to critically examine Brazilian society through the lens of its most imitated poem.
